Sometime in late November of 2024, a change to the backend of Smartluck website, apparently caused our Advantage Plus Start program, aplus.exe, written in 2004, to lock up when opened. Behind the scenes, it was downloading non-existent empty tips files to the tips folder. May anti-virus programs are now claiming our site is unsafe. There is not and never was a trojan or virus or other malicious program on our site.
A fix program for this is available which will remove the empty tips, eliminate the lockup and replace the Advantage Plus Start program, aplus.exe. Because the DOS program is 20 years out of service we are not releasing a new version of the installer at this time. Therefore this fix program needs to be run after any new install of aplus355.
AplusFix and aplus.exe which it installs are both digitally codesigned by Smartluck, Inc.
Requirements: This fix requires that Advantage Plus be installed in the c:\gh folder which is the default install location. If the aplus is running and locked up, the update will not be able to fix anything. Make sure aplus.exe is NOT running even if you have to use task manager to end task or reset your computer.
If the fix program seems to lock up, it is most likely due to the number of empty tip files. If it doesn’t work right away, use task manager to end task, then open file explorer and navigate to the c:\gh folder and manually delete the tips folder. Then run the fix program again.
Advantage Plus installed in our Smartluck Flash Drive does not use the aplus.exe start program and therefore does not need and cannot use this fix.
